100 per cent approval from local GP Practices for proposed ELR GP Federation

The proposed new GP-led organisation for transforming GP and Primary Care services across East Leicestershire and Rutland has received expressions of interest from all 32 GP practices across East Leicestershire and Rutland.

  • 30th November was the deadline for local GP practices to register Expressions of Interest to be part of ELR GP Federation
  • All 32 practices (100 per cent) have registered their interest - covering all of the 321,000 patients across East Leicestershire and Rutland
  • Work will now move forward to receive full formal approval and implementation for the proposed new body

Plans for the ELR GP Federation are now well underway.  The deadline for receiving expressions of interest from GP practices across East Leicestershire and Rutland was 30 November and, by close of play,  100 per cent of practices had registered their interest.

The proposed Federation has agreed a statement of its mission, which is

To champion through GPs and their practices, investment and delivery at scale of healthcare services for patients across East Leicestershire and Rutland

Work will now move forward to receive full formal approval from the Clinical Commissioning Group and to establish the necessary legal and administrative structures to allow the Federation to commence operations from 1st April 2016

Commenting on the expressions of interest, Tim Sacks, CCG Chief Operating Officer, said

“It’s great news to see that so many practices across our area are interested in becoming part of the proposed ELR GP Federation.  Now we have to get on with the detailed work to translate the Federation vision into practical delivery on the ground.  We look forward to working with the Federation Steering Group to make this happen.”

Dr Nainesh Chotai, local GP and a member of the ELR GP Federation Steering Group, said

“Local doctors and their practices clearly are buying into our vision for transforming the way in which we will be able to organise and deliver GP and primary care services across East Leicestershire and Rutland.  We very much look forward to working with them and keeping them informed and involved as we continue our journey to active launch.”
