- Successful collaboration between Fed, representing all 30 GP Practices from within the ELRCCG area and DHU Health Care CIC will see both parties working together to provide integrated urgent care throughout the county for the next three years with an option to extend for two more.
- Discussions for the past 12 months between DHU and the ELR GP Fed culminated with the two groups working together to submit a joint bid.
Dr Ryszard Bietzk, Chair of the ELR GP Fed said:
“We are delighted and excited that our joint vision with DHU for delivering state of the art extended care across East Leicestershire and Rutland has been accepted by ELR Clinical Commissioning Group.
As the Fed representing and supporting all GPs and GP Practices across East Leicestershire and Rutland, we are uniquely able to draw upon our direct, hands-on, daily experience of delivering excellent primary care.”
He added: “This announcement will mean that patients, their families and carers will get the very best services possible, safe in the knowledge that their familiar local GPs and other healthcare professionals who have looked after them and their families for years are centrally involved in this further aspect of their care.
From a local NHS system point of view, by involving frontline GPs in the design and delivery of this crucial new service, we can ensure that it is rooted in the real-life opportunities and challenges faced by NHS primary care professionals..”
Simon Harris, Managing Director for DHU said:
“I am delighted that we have won this service to deliver high quality care to the patients across East Leicestershire and Rutland. We have been working in partnership with the GP Fed and we are really pleased that we will have local GPs and Nurses contributing to the delivery of care to our patients.
The development of the Joint Venture with the GP Fed is really exciting and will ensure a local sustainable service.”
